*MYSTERY/SUSPENSE* Bernard
Salzmann's thriller Assumed Killer tells the tale of a reporter investigating a
serial killer. After she suffers an accident and becomes an amnesiac, she
begins to suspect her husband may be the person responsible for the brutal
slayings.
*ACTION/ADVENTURE* Chrysalis
is a post-apocalyptic action film, set 25 years after a biological terrorist
attack unleashes a virus upon the world, transforming much of humanity into
vicious creatures and laying waste to civilization. The remnants and survivors
have staggered about for years, as the "infected" slowly starve and
die off. Our story follows Joshua (Cole Simon) and Penelope (Sara Gorsky), two
such survivors who have banded together in the hope of rescuing others and
hopefully rebuilding civilization. When they encounter Abira, the lone survivor
of another group, their worlds and goals are irrevocably altered, and they must
face new and terrifying challenges if they are to survive.
*ACTION/THRILLER* Below
the streets of New York is a dark and dangerous world hidden in the shadows of
abandoned subway tunnels and miles of forgotten infrastructure. When a young
documentary filmmaker goes into these tunnels to uncover the unseen stories of
the people living below our feet, she finds out that there is more to be afraid
of than the dark. A mysterious figure, living beyond the reach of the law, has declared
war on the outside world that threatens to tear apart the fragile underground
society living in the tunnels and maybe even the city above it.
*ACTION/ADVENTURE* A
growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a
band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier.
They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are
brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's
dominant species.
*HORROR/SUSPENSE* In
DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana),
struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing
and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar
Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and
demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Based upon the book, which
details Sarchie's bone-chilling real-life cases.
*ACTION/ADVENTURE* DIVERGENT
is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided
into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is
warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she
discovers a conspiracy by a faction leader (Kate Winslet) to destroy all
Divergents, Tris must learn to trust in the mysterious Four (Theo James) and
together they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's
too late. Based on thebest-selling book series by Veronica Roth.
*ACTION/ADVENTURE*
In theaters 7/252014 Two soldiers are tasked with deciding the fate of a
terrorist with a single push of a button. As the action plays out in real time,
their window to use a deadly military drone on the target slowly closes. With
time running out, the soldiers begin to question what the real motives are
behind the ordered lethal attack.
*CRIME/DRAMA* In
idyllic Mid-Coast Maine, the Fowler family's only son Frank comes home from his
freshman year at college for summer vacation. His mother Ruth, the school choir
director, is unhappy with Frank dating soon-to-be divorced mother Natalie who
is several years his senior, but Frank's father Matt, the town doctor, doesn't
see a problem. While Frank considers holding off his future for Natalie, her
jilted husband causes them all problems until an unthinkable tragedy shakes the
community to its very core.
*ACTION/ADVENTURE* While
on a top-secret mission in Sector 4, the most dangerous area of the Middle
East, a team of Private Military Contractors known as Black Knight are ambushed
and taken hostage. Team leader Nash Olsen (Olivier Gruner) escapes captivity
and is rescued by the U.S. government, only to discover by Black Knight
Commander (Eric Roberts) that a rescue mission is impossible. Forced to choose
between his family or upholding the Black Knight motto "No One Left
Behind," Nash begins a one-man rescue attempt to save his team,
discovering there may be more to this mission than he thinks.
*CRIME/DRAMA* In
theaters 8/29/2014 19-year-old Eric (Jack O'Connell, star of the upcoming
UNBROKEN), arrogant and ultra-violent, is prematurely transferred to the same
adult prison facility as his estranged father (Ben Mendelsohn, THE DARK KNIGHT
RISES). As his explosive temper quickly finds him enemies in both prison
authorities and fellow inmates - and his already volatile relationship with his
father is pushed past breaking point - Eric is approached by a volunteer psychotherapist
(Rupert Friend, "Homeland"), who runs an anger management group
for prisoners. Torn between gang politics, prison corruption, and a glimmer of
something better, Eric finds himself in a fight for his own life, unsure if his
own father is there to protect him or join in punishing him..
*COMEDY* Tammy
(Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She's totaled her clunker car, gotten
fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint and, instead of finding
comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her
own house. It's time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she's
broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan
Sarandon), is her only option-with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara
Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma
riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.
*ACTION/COMEDY* Five
retired ex-military men attempt the unthinkable and dust off their old uniforms
for one last explosive mission. The team quickly discovers, that they are up
against an enemy from their past. This time The Dependables mission is
personal. With guns blazing, the group puts their lives on the line to defeat
their arch nemesis and save their grandchildren.
*ACTION/SUSPENSE* The Signal is a action thriller which stars Lawrence Fishburne as thhree
college students on a road trip across the Southwest experience a detour: the
tracking of a computer genius who has already hacked into MIT and exposed
security faults. The trio find themselves drawn to an eerily isolated area.
Suddenly everything goes dark. When one of the students, Nic (Brenton Thwaites
of The Giver and Maleficent), regains consciousness, he is in a waking
nightmare.
