NEW MOVIES THIS WEEK

R
*SUSPENSE/DRAMA*  Forced to abandon his ranch and land, Red Bovie (Robert Duvall) rejecting the impulse to become complacent in his old age, hops in his Cadillac and hightails it to Mexico while Gally (Jeremy Irvine) Red's grandson which he has just met, sits shotgun on his grandfather's brash adventure to learn more about him. Grandfather and grandson start a journey through their respective dreams with a frenzied stop in a Mexican town where they meet Patty (Angie Cepeda), who sees in them the hope for a better life. All of them are accidentally involved in the lives of some shady men (Luis Tosar, Joaquín Cosío, Jim Parrack). A road-trip, a story about the virtue of surviving and the right of each individual to choose their own ending.

*ACTION/ADVENTURE *   When The Punisher takes out a black market weapons dealer with stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. tech, he inadvertently stumbles upon a much larger terror plot under investigation by Black Widow, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Detained by the clandestine law enforcement organization, Nick Fury offers the Punisher his freedom in exchange for one mission; To work with Black Widow and stop the terrorist group known as LEVIATHAN.

*ACTION/SUSPENSE *   In theaters 6/20/2014 Atom Egoyan's haunting true mystery about who killed three children in a small town. The police identify three teens, aka the West Memphis Three, as committing the murders during a satanic ritual but the truth may be scarier as a mother (Reese Witherspoon) and investigator (Colin Firth) suspect all is not as it appears.

*ACTION/ADVENTURE *   The Justice League must stop Lex Luthor from going back in time to eliminate Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman by changing their origin stories.  The Legion of Doom are attempting to use space satellites to freeze the Earth's oceans, creating more land mass at the coastal regions for which they own. The JLA quickly arrive and the two teams engage in a classic battle of wills. This clash leads to Lex Luthor becoming trapped in a glacier of ice. In the 31st century Legion of Superheroes trainees; Dawnstar and Karate Kid are tasked with minding the Legion's museum. Their tour leads them to Lex Luthor's memorial; his body still encased in a large chuck of ice discovered in the 29th century. Karate Kid Inadvertently frees Luthor who secretly explores the museum himself, and soon uncovers the shrine to his greatest nemesis Superman. There he learns of the Kent's involvement in Kal-El's discovery. Luthor following the voices of Dawnstar and Karate Kid takes possession of an hourglass which holds the Time Trapper within. Whoever holds the hourglass controls this entity who is the master of time.

*SUSPENSE/THRILLER *   On New Year's Eve, a group of friends play a provocative game that spins out of control and ends in murder. With a killer on the loose, survivors of this catastrophic evening will learn how far some will go to win a game.

*MYSTERY/THRILLER * In theaters 6/6/2014  Leading man Mark Strong plays John Washington, a detective with the unique ability to enter people's minds and memories (presumably to help people recall event details pertinent to solving cases). Washington takes on the case of a troubled teenage girl named Anna, played by up-and-coming young actress Taissa Farmiga, who is accused of an attempted triple homicide. To uncover the mystery surrounding Anna and her story, Washington will enter her mind and try to find out the truth: is Anna capable of killing, or is there something hidden in her memories that shows otherwise?

*ACTION/ADVENTURE * In theaters 7/18/2014  The interwoven stories of three couples which are forced to make life altering decisions in the face of a disastrous war. Inspired and sometimes blinded by their love, Len, Mia, Andy, Esther, Anna and Erik are as flawed and beautiful as any of the billions who are facing this human-made biological disaster.

*MYSTERY/SUSPENSE *  On the night that he is released from prison, Lucas Blackstone (Angus MacFadyen from Braveheart) sets out for the town of Trinity to find the man who murdered his son. Armed with a pistol and a past full of mistakes, Lucas kidnaps Shawn Everett (Bradley Dorsey) and his wife Carrie (Haylie Duff) and holds them hostage. As the trio travels to Trinity, Lucas learns of Shawn and Carrie's troubled marriage and questions their ability to reconcile their love through their faith in God. But Lucas has no interest in their faith that is until he discovers the horrible truth about this son's killer.

*ACTION/ADVENTURE *  In theaters 5/27/2014Michael, an ex-con and former martial arts wunderkind, gets sentenced to community service at a decrepit karate school, where he crosses paths with the very man that killed his family ten years before. Now, Michael must disobey the school's sensei and train to confront the killer, this time, in the MMA octagon.

*ACTION/ADVENTURE *  A teenage boy raised by gorillas in Africa falls for a pretty conservationist following a chance meeting in the jungle, but finds their romance threatened by a menacing Silverback, and a scheming capitalist in search of a new energy source in this animated adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic tale. John Greystoke, Jr. was just a toddler when he accompanied his adventurous mother and father on a journey into Africa in search of a mineral that could revolutionize the energy industry. That trip turns tragic, however, when their helicopter crashes in a race to escape a massive storm, leaving young John the sole survivor. Raised from that day forward by a motherly gorilla named Kala, the boy, now named Tarzan, quickly integrates into the family of primates. But alpha male Silverback Tablat refuses to accept Tarzan's presence, viewing him as a direct threat to the clan. Nearly a decade later, Tarzan encounters beautiful Jane Porter, and begins to long for human contact. When Jane returns to the jungle accompanied by smooth-talking entrepreneur William Clayton a few years later, her relationship with Tarzan is rekindled.

But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind's greatest achievements. *THRILLER/DRAMA *  Shelby Gordon (Kate French) inherits a house from grandfather(Walter Olszewski) in remote woods of Copperhead County, she and friends Carissa (Yvette Yates), Lindsey (Cristen Coppen), Chelsea (Kat Sheridan),Travis (Lawrence Adimora) check it out. The road is closed and must hike in. Shelby discovers that her father had a brother Joshua (John Otrin) who was institutionalized when he was young. When her friends start to disappear, Shelby suspects that Joshua is still alive and hiding in the Red House. Also being threatened by a couple of local pot growers, Pink (Gregory Avellone) and his son Will (Ed Ackerman). Is Joshua torturing and killing her friends or is someone else? With the help of Cole Callahan (Brendan Wayne, ) the handsome deputy sheriff, she unravels the mystery.
